Take it Easy on My Ego......

Well, the job hunt continues. I truly believe age discrimination is alive and well and I'm encountering it. I suppose 25 years of practical on-the-job experience and numerous accolades from large clients counts for nothing when you're up against the 20 somethings who have that shiny new diploma in their hands and are just starting out in the workplace. Go figure......

So, to compensate for my sad state of events, I'm slowly reviving my interest in sewing. I have to admit that my first tote creation experience was interesting. I'm more of a seamstress than a crafty sewing queen, but there you go. At the end of the day, I suppose there's really nothing different between the two disciplines. And what's with charm packs, layer cakes, turnovers, and jelly rolls, etc.? I had to get a very crafty friend of mine to explain all the fabric lingo. In my day, you just bought fabric from the bolt and away you went. Now it sounds like a weird baking experience. haha

So, the tote is completed and fairly presentable. (BTW, I cheated and had another very good friend make the other tote for me. Sad but true.) My next venture was to buy charm packs for a very cute coupon clutch. Now check this out....I've bought everything I need to make the clutches but I'm finking out and having my friend Anna do the sewing . Is that considered cheating in the world of crafty/quilty cults? I reviewed the web page and before I was half-way through the lovely pictures and step-by-step instructions I immediately IMd Anna and politely asked if she would sew them for me. Okay, I admit it, I freaked.

Now, I've ordered two more charm packs (getting pretty good with this fabric lingo) and will eventually create something myself. But I'll warn you that the first time I pierce my finger with the sewing machine needle, I'm changing hobbies.

And it's only fair that I give my friend Anna a plug. She has some great items selling on etsy.com. Just click here to visit her site and I hope you find something you just can't live without.

Best to all,

Sue
